RT - These are used for the RT store, and can purchase MS and weapons that are either not available in the DP store yet, or you are too low-level to buy.DP - You use these to buy MS, weapons, and custom parts from the supply depot.Regular drops cost 3 tokens each it's usually best to save up for "half-off 10" drops (15 tokens for 10 drops) that usually happen every 2-3 weeks, or for guaranteed MS step-ups These are earned through daily missions or bought with real money. ![]() ![]() However, gamers who are hoping to play Elden Ring or Diablo IV may be disappointed – at least with the current version of Fusion 13. To be fair, the high performance of Apple’s M1 and M2 processors means that your Windows virtual machines should be able to handle routine tasks such as web browsing or running the Windows version of Microsoft Office without too much trouble – and even at 4K resolution too. But, when running on Apple Silicon, Fusion only supports OpenGL for virtual machines that use Linux – with Windows support still in development. ![]() ![]() When running on Macs with Intel processors, Fusion provides hardware acceleration for 3D graphics in Windows games and design software that use DirectX and OpenGL 4.3. There are some technical limitations too. Fusion also has a tendency to throw a lot of complicated jargon at you too – such as “side channel mitigations” – which is the sort of thing that only corporate IT managers are likely to understand. Unfortunately, that’s not an easy task, as Windows 11 On Arm is primarily intended for sale to PC manufacturers, rather than individual users, so VMWare needs to make Fusion a bit more user-friendly for people who don’t understand the intricacies of Microsoft’s licensing policies. Parallels Desktop includes an option to automatically download and purchase Windows 11 On Arm when creating a new virtual machine, but VMware simply told us that it’s up to the user to buy a license from Microsoft. This means that the process of installing and running Windows 11 on Macs with Apple Silicon has some rather rough edges. These Macs need a special version of Windows 11 called Windows 11 On Arm, and VMware’s Michael Roy says that Fusion 13 is just “our first round of features for Windows 11 On Arm”. There’s a more limited range of features available when running Fusion 13 on Macs that have Apple Silicon processors such as the M1 or M2. Both programs also allow you to create virtual machines that run various versions of Linux too, which is a useful feature for many developers and students. And, crucially, you can run your Windows apps right alongside your existing Mac apps – rather than having to switch back and forth between Mac and Windows as you have to do when using Boot Camp on Intel Macs (and, of course, Boot Camp is no longer available on Macs with Apple Silicon at all). This virtual machine emulates the workings of a Windows PC, allowing you to install a full copy of Windows on the virtual machine and then run any Windows software or games that you need to use. In recent years, though, VMware has seemed to focus more on its high-end corporate products and, since the introduction of Apple Silicon in 2020, Fusion no longer really competes with the annual updates to Parallels Desktop anymore.īoth programs work in basically the same way, allowing you to create a virtual machine (VM) that runs on your Mac just like any other Mac application. Every time Apple released a new version of the macOS we would see Parallels and VMware release their own updates, and this competition was great for Mac users as it meant that both programs continued to offer new features and performance improvements every year. And, with a free version available for non-commercial use, it’s also the most affordable option for home users and students.įor many years Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion fought a long battle to produce the best virtualization software for Mac users who needed to run Windows software on their Macs. Support for Apple Silicon is still a work in progress, but Fusion 13 remains a good option for Mac users who need to run Windows 11 or Linux apps on their Macs. While drywall does have many advantages as an interior wall material, it's not invincible. Drywall also helps to reduce noise along with having fire-resistant properties due to the water in the boards. First, the process of installation requires less time and labor, which can translate to less cost. There are obvious advantages to drywall over plaster. Once the third layer had dried, the wall is ready to be painted. After each layer, the wall is sanded to give a smoother surface. Then, the typical three layers of joint compound are added. The walls are then taped with either paper or fiberglass-mesh tape at the joints, corners and places where the boards have been fastened to the wall. After the boards are in place, corner bead is attached to the corners to give them a straight edge. They're then secured to the rough framing of the house. The boards are cut to fit the shape of the walls. Installing drywall is a fairly quick process compared to that of plastering. One side of the paper is the face, which is strong and smooth, while the other side, or back, has a rougher texture. The viscous material is then squeezed, or flattened, between two different layers of paper and dried. Let's take a closer look at this interior wall material.įor basic gypsum drywall, the calcined gypsum is mixed with water and occasionally additives to create the core material. These may be some of the reasons that homeowners and remodelers are now more likely to opt for the drywall. Some of these cracks can be fixed with plaster or a setting-type compound, yet others require structural restoration. In addition, while plaster is very durable, it can crack with the settling of the building or improper installation. Plastering is also time-consuming - in applying and drying time. First, the plastering process is labor intensive, causing the price to rise. Let's look at some possibilities for why that might have happened. Finally, the gypsum within the plaster has a high water content, which gives the walls fire-resistant qualities.Įven with these benefits, plaster has fallen out of favor with homeowners today. Since plaster is not a solid when it's applied to the wall, it can be a good choice for curved or irregular surfaces. If the lathing and framing are done well, plaster can provide a much more rigid wall leading to reduced likelihood of buckling or breaking. This thickness also creates a good sound barrier between rooms. In this article, we'll explore the composition, advantages and disadvantages of plaster and drywall for interior wall applications.ĭue to the number of coats and lathing, a plaster wall tends to be thicker than a drywall wall, which can create a greater air barrier. The product now covers a majority of the interior walls in modern day homes. By the 1950s, drywall had surged in popularity as an interior wall material. This new form of plaster grew in popularity because it could speed up the building process.Īs technology advanced, drywall became more durable and readily available. Īn alternative to lime-based plasters, gypsum-based plasters had a faster drying time. Frescos are works of art that are created with different pigments on wet plaster. Ancient Roman homes are known to have been decorated with fresco artwork. Egyptian tombs, such as that of Queen Nefertari, feature paintings on the plaster walls that line their interiors. The earliest plaster was usually made of lime, sand, animal hair and water. Plaster has been used since ancient times. Two of the most common forms of interior wall materials are plaster and drywall. ![]() ![]() She called police, who later located Routh sitting in front of his home in the truck.
